Bins are equal width and the bars touch. Height = how many values fall in that interval. You can read counts, compare groups and see the shape — but not any individual value.
Sample problems
- How wide is each bin?
- How many students are in the 70–79 bin?
- How many students are in the 90–99 bin?
- How many students scored at least 70?
Common mistakes to watch for
- Answered 4 by counting the bins rather than adding the students in them.
- Answered ‘12’ alone. The question asks which bin as well as how many.
- Answered 99, assuming the bin's top value was achieved. Nobody may have scored 99 at all.
The answer key explains each one, so you can tell what a wrong answer means.
How to use this set
- Teach with the slides (about 15 minutes), or watch the video together.
- Practice with the worksheet. Questions climb from fluency to application to reasoning.
- Check understanding with the exit ticket, and send the homework home.
- Mark with the answer key — each answer shows the steps and the most likely mistake.
